I'm always happy to provide consultations and estimates if you're looking for an editor for advanced academic projects. With over a decade of experience in university writing centers, supplemental writing advising and coaching, teaching in university writing seminars, and training university faculty and staff in writing instruction, I offer comprehensive writing advice and editing according to the client's needs and preferences. My clients often seek more specific and directive editing support than is traditionally available via writing center tutoring.
I have experience editing articles for publication, public facing writing, and dissertation chapters. My editing work includes various focus points, such as grammar, journal or citation style, clarity and complexity of language, and organization. I work most frequently with clients for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL, alternatively ESL, etc.). I am also myself a published academic author in Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics (2017) and Interviewing the Caribbean (2022) with forthcoming articles in postmedieval and Wasafiri.
My rates are variable on a sliding scale based on the following factors:
My rate ranges, according to these factors and others that I discuss with the client, from $35/hour to $75/hour. These prices reflect a competitive rate for editing in academia.
If you would like to request an estimate for editing services, please e-mail the following information to [email protected] with the subject line "Freelance Estimate Request":

My rates are variable on a sliding scale based on the following factors:
- Client financial situation (with minimal detail necessary--your financial situation is your business and I mean to accommodate any budget if I can)
- Project complexity and length
- Client expectations (e.g., level of direct editing expected, opportunities for multiple sessions or revisions, etc.)
- Turnaround time (I am a graduate student myself, so my time is limited; I do occasionally take on "urgent" requests, but prefer to have more lead time)
